A small-town Oregon sheriff and three delinquents are trapped by a forest fire. The sheriff is attempting to arrest the youths when they pull a gun on him and force him to become their guide. He leads them into the apparent safety of nearby wilderness, but a carelessly discarded cigarette end sparks a raging inferno.
