After her father is murdered, 14-year-old Mattie Ross sets out to find the killer. She finds Rooster Cogburn an aging marshal with a questionable reputation, a love of whiskey, and very unconventional methods. Together, they venture into a territory where the law certainly doesn’t apply to everyone. The film was directed by the Coen brothers, and you can feel it in everything: the dry humor, the quirky characters, and the dialogue. At the same time, this Western doesn’t try to be a modern action movie it’s deliberately slow-paced and gritty.
