The NCIS prequel keeps getting better. NCIS: Origins follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the 1990s, working as an agent at Camp Pendleton before the team we know existed. Series 2 picks up after that Season 1 finale—you know, the one where Gibbs made a choice that cost him something important. This season dives deeper into what made Gibbs into the man we met in the original show. He’s still grieving (that’s always there), but he’s also learning to trust people again. The new cast member playing Mike Franks is spot‑on—gruff, loud, but with a hidden soft side. The cases are good—a murder on a submarine, a disappearance in the desert, a spy inside the base—but the real draw is watching young Gibbs figure out who he wants to be. My only complaint is that the season feels a little rushed. Only 8 episodes, and the finale tries to do too much. But if you’re an NCIS fan, you’ll want this. The show understands the original while doing its own thing.
